This course is an accredited specialised program for the healthcare industry designed to equip those who need to undertake the role of a Fire Safety Officer. 

This course meets the criteria and requirements set out in the NSW Health's Policy Directive for Fire Safety in Healthcare Facilities (PD2010_024), associated Australian Standards AS3745 & AS4083, as well as the WHS Act 2011 and the WHS Regulations 2017.

Delivered over two days this program will provide candidates with the skills to assume the role of a Fire Safety Officer (FSO). This course has a pathway for anyone wishing to undertake the role of a Fire Safety Manager (FSM) as it is a pre-requisite as outlined in the NSW Health's Policy Directive.

  • Fitness to participate

  • Enclosed footwear, long pants, and long sleeve shirt

  • Sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course

  • Understand the role & responsibilities of the Fire Safety Officer

  • Planning for various emergencies in a facility

  • Preventative safeguards to assist staff

  • Familiarisation with life safety systems including detection & suppression

  • Fire safety audit of the systems in place

  • Practical fire extinguisher training
